On Friday 1st July 2022 clinical commissioning groups (CCG's) across the country were closed and were replaced by new NHS organisations known as Integrated Care Boards.

Therefore, NHS East Lancashire CCG no longer exists and has been replaced (along with the othe seven CCGs in Lancashire and South Cumbria) by the new NHS Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care Board (ICB)

Implementation of revised and updated clinical policies

We wish to bring to the attention of patients and members of the public that revised and updated clinical policies on the following treatments have been approved by the CCG. These are:

  1. The updated Spinal Injections and Radiofrequency Denervation for Low Back Pain Policy
  2. The updated Policy for the Commissioning of Cosmetic Procedures
  3. The new Non-invasive Vagus Nerve Stimulation (gammaCore™) in headache Policy
  4. The updated Policy for the Provision of Continuous Glucose Monitoring and Flash Glucose Monitoring for patients with Diabetes Mellitus

These clinical policies explain the criteria that must be met in order for these treatments and procedures to be given on the NHS in this area.

Arrangements are being made with GPs and hospital doctors and consultants, who are required to follow these policies when considering your treatment, for the implementation of these policies. Whilst this takes place there may be a period during which patients who were referred for treatment under the previous versions of these policies continue to be managed under that version of the policy.

If you have any questions about whether you are eligible for one of these treatments, you should discuss this with your clinician.
