New community website for Burnley

A website featuring a directory of services for Burnley residents is now live.

The website, which has been co-produced with members of the community in Burnley, provides a ‘toolkit’ of features and local resources where you can find information on services such as; mental health, GP access, dental, education & training, as well as local news and events happening in Burnley.

Dr Santhosh Davis, GP Clinical Lead for Burnley at East Lancashire CCG said:

“The REAL Burnley website is a great new resource that will help to assist Burnley resident’s source information and services to benefit their needs. As a GP I often see patients who could use the information on this website and who don’t necessarily need to see a GP. It’s a fantastic website that has been developed by the local community for the local community.”

The sections on the website include:

• Advocacy and politics
• Culture and heritage
• Education and training
• Faith and religious groups
• Local health services such as, GP surgeries, dentists and pharmacies
• Sport and recreation
• Support and welfare groups

The website was funded by NHS East Lancashire CCG and created by REAL (Rossendale Enterprise Anchor Limited) who is involved in developing organisations and services that support the Voluntary, Community and Faith Sectors (VCFS). They also created the REAL Rossendale website, which is a directory of services for people in Rossendale.

Matt Wiseman, Project Manager for the REAL websites project said:

“The REAL websites are being maintained with the help of local volunteers and organisations who are passionate about making their communities a better place to live and work. The websites form a network of community information across East Lancashire.”
