Dr Mark Dziobon - Medical Director
Dr Mark Dziobon was appointed as Medical Director for the CCG in January 2019. Mark will balance this role with his existing work as a GP and GP educator, for 2 days each week. Mark has been a GP at Rosegrove Surgery in Burnley for the last six years, having worked previously as a GP in Blackburn, and Bolton.
Mark is the Programme Director for East Lancashire General Practice Training based at the Learning Centre at the Royal Blackburn Hospital. It is here that GP Trainees receive high quality supervision and education. With 79 local GP trainers across East Lancashire, Mark’s focus, with other medical educators is to ensure that GP Trainees receive weekly educational activities and training. Mark believes that providing an effectively managed and resourced training programme can ensure that the next generation of primary care specialists are well equipped to respond to the challenges of the future. Mark is driven by improving patient care and ensuring that patients are equal partners in health care. His practice in Burnley has been recognised for its groundbreaking and outstanding service for its care and support provided to a local women’s refuge group, many of whom are fleeing domestic abuse, in addition his practice assists the local drug recovery service and holds fortnightly clinics to help those with drug addiction. Both as a practising GP and a GP Commissioner he recognises the benefit of co-production – where patients and clinicians work together to improve services. Mark was the GP lead and was instrumental in ensuring patients and the public were involved in improving the award winning East Lancashire Musculo-Skeletal Service, as well as the Community Eye Service and Community Dermatology Service.
In his spare time Mark is a keen cyclist, and used to ride for various teams in the Northwest.
