Revised Cosmetic Procedures
NHS East Lancashire and Blackburn with Darwen Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) are working in partnership with the other seven CCGs in Lancashire and South Cumbria to review clinical policies across the region.
The eight CCGs across Lancashire and South Cumbria have all agreed that there is a need to review their clinical policies in order to: ensure a consistent and fair approach; update current policies in accordance with National Guidelines and best clinical practice and to make sure it is using its limited resources to maximum effect.
Residents of East Lancashire are therefore invited to read the revised draft policy on the commissioning of cosmetic procedures. The revised policy proposes that the CCG will not fund cosmetic procedures when the main purpose of this is to change the appearance of a part of the body. This applies to anyone of any age. Only cosmetic procedures where the main purpose is to treat a functional or medical problem, and that meet the criteria in the policy, will be funded.
Residents are being consulted over a 12 week period and open forum events are being planned for each CCG area. Residents can provide their feedback and comments now and throughout the 12 weeks by completing the relevant survey. The engagement period will end on Friday 22 December.
